Tips on India

On a daily basis, Indian Palate continually strives to provide guests with an extraordinary dining experience. From superlative service to the most exquisite Indian cuisine and breathtakingly romantic ambiance, guests’ palate will be forever changed. Nothing speaks with more weight than comments from our critics though, so below, you’ll find words from a variety of food critics, publications and guests whom we have had the pleasure of serving.

Miami Herald

India has 21 major regions, each with a distinct cuisine. It is rare to find as many of them represented in South Florida as at 4-month-old Indian Palate in Coral Gables, where chef-owner Jay Mariadoss' menu ranges from vibrant versions of street snacks (chaats) to rich Mughlai (royal) dishes. His lunch buffet offers a mix of regional dishes and a chaat station where diners mix puffed rice with an array of chutneys and thin chickpea-flour vermicelli called sev. Soft-shell crab pakoras (fritters) are served with shrimp and calamari in tangy tamarind confit. Corn fritters come with a trio of lassi yogurt shooters (salty, sweet mango and perfumed rosewater). With intoxicating aromas of rich curries and earthy cumin wafting through the air, Indian Palate is taking Miami’s culinary scene through a tantalizing storm of flavors. While there have been sporadic openings of Indian restaurants in this Latin hotspot, few if any, have managed to offer a truly authentic dining experience that boasts a traditional yet eclectic menu spanning the entire country of India. Owner/Chef Jay, who himself hails from Southern India and has had stints as chef in five diamond hotels in the United States, can be found in front of the tandoori brick oven (strategically placed in the main dining hall so you can almost believe you’re in India) making rotis and naans from scratch... Keep Indian Palate in your back pocket when you're on a date with someone who's a bit hard to impress. The surroundings are polished (it looks a bit like a mini Indian Sistine Chapel, if that makes any sense), and the menu is pretty easy to follow. Designed by chefs from Hotel Victor and Morton's (two hotbeds of Indian cooking), it uses a "palate system" that groups five dishes from a particular region of India. (Read More of this Review)

Excellent Indian Buffet. I'm just learning Indian cuisine but this was very impressive. Fresh, spotlessly clean, and best of all tasty! It wasn't too spicey & unlike another Gables buffet wasn't greasy. It's right around the corner from Books & Books and is definitely worth a try. It's been added to my favorites list.

I loved it :) / service was amazing

I am a very big fan of Indian food. Once I heard about this place in the gables I knew that I had to give it a try. Once you walk through the doors of Indian Palate; you feel like you just walked in to a royal manor. The high end décor and art work just blow my mind away. To my surprise the food and service were amazing. The waiter seemed to know the menu pretty well and was attentive to my every need, form start to finish.

Brunch Buffet Bonanza. Just to the point after two buffet trips: -Tasteful and opulent decor of indian ambience Array of authentic dishes, spiced uniquely to the regions of India is delectably yummy and homely. Meat-lovers will love the spread of choices: chicken, beef, mutton, pork and yes fish; just remember to leave some room for desserts (extensive choices would please each in a crowd). Great value for the price! can't wait to check out the regular menu

The best Indian Restuarant in town

Excellent service, fantastic menu, good staff, food has an authentic taste to it unlike the other indian restuarants. I simple love this place, and will definitely go back and planning to cater them for my holiday party too.
